Job Description

We are hiring immediately for Food Safety Inspectors to work in a potato processing facility in Firth, ID. As a Food Safety Inspector, you will be responsible for checking product quality by inspecting product samples for defects. You will be working up to eight hours a day, six days a week. On the job training is available.

Pay will be $10.00 per hour.

Description:

  • Responsible for quality assurance of product from the OptiSort Unit
  • Act at all times in such a manner as to comply with good manufacturing practices, food safety, and food quality
  • Proper dress code, personal cleanliness, neatness and follow proper sanitation procedures
  • Follow all safety rules and procedures
  • Report all food safety, food quality, unsanitary and unsafe conditions to the Head Dryer Operator or Shift Foreman immediately
  • Must arrive on time ready and able to work
  • Must wear and maintain all required PPE, replace as needed
  • Takes beginning, middle, and end samples of the product from each tote
  • Checks the samples for burns, marks, and other defects below the expected quality and notifies the proper personnel to ensure a quality product
  • Assists the Sorter Operator with removing defects
  • Responsible for maintaining a neat and clean work area
  • May be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme heat or cold, outside weather conditions, fumes, or airborne particles
  • Assist the Dryer Operator and Sorter Operator as instructed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • One to three months related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must be able to stand and handle objects, tools, or controls
  • Must be able to walk, reach, and climb
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Must have excellent eyesight and attention to detail
  • Must be able to work with moving mechanical parts and high, precarious places.
  • Must be able to work in noisy environments
